A man was severely injured when he was struck by a train Tuesday night.

Police located the man, who reportedly was intoxicated, north of the tracks between North Guthrie and Elwood avenues, according to a Tulsa Police Department news release.

Officers initially were dispatched to the 1400 block of East Archer Street, where the train was stopped. There, a person informed officers that the train had hit a person who was lying on the tracks, according to the release.

The man was taken by ambulance to St. John Medical Center. Police said he had a “severely broken right leg” and head trauma.

The press release indicates that the man would be given a psychological evaluation in addition to treatment for his injuries.
