As part of the infrastructure improvement project, the Oklahoma department of transportation and other City Representatives have installed speed limit signs, new lighting, new reflective paint, RFID detectors and also cameras and new Magellan signal switch boxes on the street lights in this part of Tulsa in our community.
As far as landscaping and beautification up with trees there have been hundreds of trees for this part of Tulsa for Phoenix district and has planted them along the 36 to 46 North Peoria corridor.
To minimize the impact of crime in the area along the 36 to 46th Street, North Tulsa, law enforcement has installed 24-hour 7 days a week cameras along the “crime hotspots” where public transportation safety infrastructure has been destroyed or stolen. Because these infrastructure projects are for the safety of the entire community, the Tulsa Police department has decided to increase the monitoring in this area to reduce crime, as well as ensue the safety of pedestrians in our Phoenix district community in Tulsa.
Follow up: Prairie Trail Infrastructure Project
At the onset of 2024, the city street team infrastructure project planning commission decided to install midsection crosswalks for pedestrian, so pedestrians wouldn’t have to walk so far to the next intersection to get safe passage. Mid-intersections in North Tulsa, Phoenix district.
With mid intersection pedestrian crosswalks the journey to the next intersection to continue safe passage is a lot shorter, which means that pedestrians are less likely to avoid protected and marked crosswalks when crossing the street.
Another pedestrian marked and protected safety implementation at Phoenix district infrastructure council involved the complete remodel of radius implements along cornered sidewalks. Also, Tulsa Street Infrastructure Planning Groups installed non-slip padding and reflective signs for the crosswalks on 36th and North Peoria in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The Phoenix district in North Tulsa is installing additional lighting along the prairie trail in North Tulsa. One young lady, a pedestrian chose to remain anonymous, said that her Chief complaint was that “It’s very dark along the prairie trail which makes traveling on the trail at dawn and at dusk extremely dangerous.” Because she is living as a homeless women in a camp she is very grateful that we were publishing a story about the importance of this light infrastructure project occurring right now in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
