A native of Queens, New York City, DJ Envy is known to acknowledge his roots. “Growing up in St. Francis Prep school in Queens, we are often told by the adults in our lives to ‘Never forget where you came from,’ Growing up RaaShaun was called DJ Shrimp and groomed by a neighborhood acquaintance DJ Clue. DJ Clue introduced him to the mixtape circuit in the mid-1990s. He says, “I was [already] known in New York, but college opened me up,” he said. “One of my roommates was from Mississippi, so he brought me Mississippi music. My other roommate was from Jersey, and he introduced that Jersey bounce to me. And then I had another roommate from Detroit. Envy: “I come to DJ these parties, it’s not just New York music [being played], and I can DJ anywhere.”
RaaShaun Casey, later became known as DJ Envy, graduated from Hampton University in 1999 with a degree in business management.
DJ Envy was born on September 3, 1977. He is from New York City and is known for being one of the city’s best mixtape producers. He has been married to Gia Casey since 2001 and they have six children: Logan, Jaxson, Madison, London, Brooklynn, and Peyton

Recently, in a heated phone conversation, Gunplay threatened to slap DJ Envy for mentioning his GoFundMe page for his sick infant during the Rick Ross feud.
On Sunday (May 29), Gunplay shared on his Instagram account a video of his phone call between him and DJ Envy with Charlamagne Tha God as the mediator. In the clip, the former Maybach Music Group artist asked Envy why his name was being dragged into his car show beef with Rick Ross?
Gunplay explained that he was angry that Envy mentioned his wife’s GoFundMe account, which was posted so they could raise money for his infant daughter who had a heart defect. The Miami rapper then threatened to beat up Envy for his transgression.
“Why you talking crazy …You know I’ll slap the s**t out of you,” Gunplay warned Envy.
For his part, DJ Envy apologized for mentioning the GoFundMe page but insisted that he never said anything bad about his infant daughter
DJ Envy is active on Instagram and has over 1 million followers. He often shares pictures of his family, cars, and his various business ventures. DJ Envy was raised by his grandparents and has spoken about their influence on his life and career.

So how can they provide food on their table? I knew I had to help.” On Easter Sunday (April 12), Envy hosted a DJ-a-thon on Instagram Live to raise additional funds. The event took place from 12 am to 12 pm and featured live music sets from DJ Clue, DJ D-Nice, Kid Capri, DJ Will, Tony Neal, DJ Prostyle, DJ Scratch and Quicksilva.
DJ Envy is also known for his roles in Cradle 2 the Grave (2003), Entourage (2004), and East New York (2022). He has been married to Gia Casey since 2001. DJ Envy and his wife Gia invested in Black-owned water brand Positivity Alkaline Water.
Some say that Envy promoted a scheme where he conned people into investing money in his properties: Nigel Chamblin says he was conned into investing $235,000 in a Patterson property.
Auggie Ros says he worked on Envy’s cars for years and believed he received a return on his initial investment with Caesar. Envy and Caesar own $100 million worth of real estate, but 30 or more victims haven’t been paid.
One notable investor is E-Town Concrete vocalist Anthony Martini at some point, as news has come out that he lost a million dollars in a New Jersey real estate scheme. Another investor Anthony Barone, recently filed a lawsuit against real estate influencers Cesar Piña and his wife Jennifer Piña, as well as Power 105.1 personality DJ Envy for allegedly committing fraud. Reports about the scam indicate folks had invested in the company over $40 million.
Piña and other real estate scam co-conspirators involved in illicit real estate dealings were sanctioned to ‘a bankruptcy court trustee.’ The bankruptcy trustee has been assigned to oversee the properties that were part of the alleged scheme. Assets are now being sold so people can get their investments back.
DJ Envy is filing a defamation lawsuit against TonytheCloser, the influencer and real estate scam watchdog that called him out. Apparently, the scam involved pitching both Martini and Barone on investing in the Taylor Apartments. Martini apparently put up a million dollars of his own money into the project.
Barone invested half a million for a stake in the property, at which point the Piñas forged Martini’s signature to get that deal done.
